We're committed to providing you with the best experience possible. Below you'll find comprehensive answers to frequently asked questions, troubleshooting guides, and ways to contact our support team.
Q: How much does The 1% cost?
A: The 1% is a subscription-based app at $4.99/month. We offer a 7-day free trial for all new users so you can explore all features before committing. Currently, we don't offer a free tier as our production costs require sustainable revenue to maintain high-quality development and support.
Q: What happens to my data if I cancel my subscription?
A: All your data is stored locally on your device and remains accessible even after cancellation. If you've shared data with friends through our social features, you can request deletion of that shared data at any time by contacting [email protected].
Q: Can I get a refund?
A: Refund requests are handled through the App Store. Please visit your iPhone Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions > The 1% and follow Apple's refund process, or contact Apple Support directly.
Q: What devices does The 1% support?
A: The 1% is currently available exclusively for iOS devices running iOS 18 or later. We're actively developing an Apple Watch app that will work standalone (without requiring your iPhone) and is expected to launch soon. Android support is planned for the future once we reach a sustainable user base on iOS.
Q: Will there be an Apple Watch version?
A: Yes! An Apple Watch app is currently in development and will support watchOS standalone functionality, meaning you'll be able to track workouts and activities directly from your watch without needing your iPhone nearby. It will also sync seamlessly when both devices are available.
Q: Are you planning an Android version?
A: We're considering Android development for the future. However, we need to build a strong iOS user base first to ensure we can sustainably support development across multiple platforms while maintaining our high standards of quality.
Q: How many exercises does the app include?
A: The 1% includes over 1,000 pre-loaded exercises covering all major muscle groups and movement patterns. You can also create unlimited custom exercises to match your exact training needs. We offer hundreds of pre-built workout routines that you can use as-is or customize to your preferences.
Q: Does the app have a rest timer?
A: Yes! We include a built-in rest timer that you can use between sets to optimize your recovery and maintain consistent workout intensity.
Q: What types of workouts can I track?
A: Currently, The 1% fully supports strength training and cardio workouts. We're developing a new "Sessions" feature that will add support for HIIT workouts, yoga, home workouts, Pilates, virtual training sessions, and more specialized workout formats.
Q: Can I import workouts from other apps or share my workout plans?
A: Workout import/export functionality is not currently available, but it's on our development roadmap for a future update. We understand this is important for users transitioning from other platforms.
Q: How large is your food database?
A: Our database contains over 3 million verified food products with barcode support, and we add new items daily. If you can't find a specific product, you can add it manually, and our team will review and add it to the database within 24 hours for all users.
Q: How does barcode scanning work?
A: Simply tap the barcode icon in the nutrition section and scan any food product's barcode. The app will automatically pull up nutritional information from our database. This works for the vast majority of packaged foods available in stores.
Q: Can I set custom macro goals?
A: Absolutely! While we provide standard macro recommendations, you can manually set custom macro goals for protein, carbs, and fats. We also offer personalized macro calculations based on your age, gender, height, current weight, and target weight to help optimize your nutrition for your specific goals.
Q: How accurate is the nutrition data?
A: Our nutrition database is built on a curated version of OpenFoodFacts with verified entries. While accuracy depends partly on user-submitted data, we maintain strict quality controls and our verification system ensures the data quality improves continuously.
Q: Does the app include meal planning or recipes?
A: Not yet, but both meal planning and recipe suggestions are planned for future updates. We're committed to building these features thoughtfully to ensure they provide real value.
Q: Does the running tracker work offline?
A: Yes! The running tracker fully supports offline functionality, so you can track your runs without an internet connection. GPS location data is recorded locally on your device.
Q: Can I see my running route after my workout?
A: Absolutely. After completing a run, you'll have access to detailed maps showing your exact route, along with comprehensive data including pace, distance, splits, elevation, and more performance metrics.
Q: Does the app provide audio cues during runs?
A: Audio cues are not currently available, but this feature is being considered for future development based on user feedback.
Q: Can I sync with Strava or other running apps?
A: Strava integration is not currently supported, but we're planning to add integrations with popular fitness platforms in upcoming updates.
Q: How long are meditation sessions?
A: Meditation sessions range from 1 to 7 minutes, giving you flexibility based on your available time. Some sessions are guided with instructions, while others feature gentle ambient sounds to help you focus on your breathing.
Q: What types of meditation does the app offer?
A: Currently, we focus on breathing-based meditation sessions. We have plans to expand to include body scan meditations, mindfulness practices, visualization techniques, and other meditation styles in future updates.
Q: How does the Focus Timer work?
A: Our Focus Timer is based on the proven Pomodoro Technique. You can customize work/break intervals and even select specific apps to block during focus sessions, complete with custom blocking screens to help you stay on task.
Q: Can I share my progress with friends?
A: Yes! You can currently share workout details with friends within The 1% app or post them to social media platforms. We're working on expanding sharing capabilities to include nutrition data, habits, and other metrics in future updates.
Q: Can I compete with friends?
A: Friends can compare their exercise performance data within the app. Live competitions and challenge features are planned for future development to make fitness more engaging and social.
Q: Are user profiles public or private?
A: All profiles are private by default. Only friends you specifically select and approve can see your data. You have complete control over who can view your fitness journey.
Q: Where is my data stored?
A: All your data is stored locally on your device and is never shared with us or third parties without your explicit consent. If you choose to share specific data with friends through our social features, only that selected information is shared via secure Firebase cloud storage.
Q: How does the app use HealthKit?
A: The 1% integrates with Apple HealthKit to read and write health data including heart rate, workout statistics, sleep tracking, steps, and body weight. HealthKit provides a secure, privacy-focused framework that ensures you maintain complete control over your health information.
Q: Can I disable HealthKit integration?
A: Yes. You can manage HealthKit permissions at any time in your iPhone's Settings app under Health > Data Access & Devices, then select The 1% and adjust which data types the app can access.
Q: Can I export my data?
A: Data export functionality is not currently available but is planned for a future update. We recognize the importance of data portability and are working to implement this feature properly.
Q: How do I transfer data to a new phone?
A: If you're switching to a new iPhone, you can restore your workout data using the 'Restore' button found in the Shared Workouts section. Other data types will need to be manually backed up for now, but we're working on comprehensive data transfer and backup solutions.
Q: How do I delete my account?
A: You can request account deletion directly in the app settings. Any data stored in Firebase will be permanently deleted within 24 hours. Local data on your device must be removed manually through the app's data management options.
Q: What features work offline?
A: Nearly all features work offline, including workouts, running tracking, habits, focus timer, and sleep tracking. The only features requiring internet are meditation audio downloads and nutrition database searches (though previously searched items are cached for offline use).

A: Currently, The 1% integrates with Apple Health and HealthKit. We're actively developing integrations with Apple Watch and have plans for additional platform connections including popular fitness and wellness apps.
Q: What's the minimum iOS version required?
A: The 1% requires iOS 18 or later to ensure optimal performance and access to the latest security features.
App crashes or freezes: First, ensure you're running the latest version of The 1% from the App Store. Try force-quitting the app and restarting your device. If problems persist, try deleting and reinstalling the app (note: this will remove local data, so export or back up if possible).
Data not syncing with friends: Check your internet connection and verify that you're logged into your account. Ensure your friend has accepted your connection request in the app.
Notifications not working: Verify that notifications are enabled both in The 1% app settings and in your iPhone's Settings > Notifications > The 1%. Check that Do Not Disturb is not blocking alerts.
HealthKit data not updating: Go to iPhone Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > The 1% and ensure all necessary permissions are enabled. You may need to toggle permissions off and back on to refresh the connection.
GPS/Running tracker not accurate: Ensure Location Services are enabled for The 1% in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services. Select "Always" or "While Using the App" for best accuracy. Try starting your run in an open area with clear sky visibility for stronger GPS signal.
